1 ""Fingerprints"" of quantum dots for analytical and bioanalytical purposes. The subject of the PhD thesis is related to the use of nanomaterials - quantum dots - to create fluorescent ""fingerprints"" for the identification / determination of selected bioanalytes with a similar structure: amino acids, oligopeptides, neurotransmitters, hormones, nucleosides, and metabolites. Recognition by means of a unique pattern hidden in such a ""fingerprint"" is an alternative to classical molecular recognition based on the principle of lock and key and requires the desired information to be decoded using numerical methods. The aim of the doctorate will be to design, develop and determine the analytical capabilities of quantum dot arrays that have the potential to create useful bioanalytical tools. The proposed methodology has great potential as a quick, universal, easy-to-perform test that can be used in medical diagnostics, systems biology, proteomics and metabolomics studies.
2 Ion-sensitive nano- and microspheres - fabrication, characterization and testing of sensory properties. In recent years, nanotechnology has developed a number of tools enabling the fabrication, characterization, and study of the potential applications of a number of nanomaterials, which we use more and more in everyday life. One of the research areas intensively explored are biomedical applications of nanomaterials, including the use of their sensitivity to their microenvironment, which results in the possibility of detection and quantification of a number of bioanlites and the possibility of in vivo and in vitro bioimaging. The aim of the doctorate will be to design ion-sensitive nano- and microspheres with the desired chemosensory properties and to study their potential applications in biological samples.
