Startups are innovative and highly scalable organizations that play a key role in the knowledge-based economy. In your thesis, you may explore how young technology firms emerge, grow, and collaborate with other entities.
Possible research areas include:
models of cooperation between startups and corporations/industry, e.g. acceleration programs, incubators, hackathons, procurement platforms, venture building (Open Innovation);
sources of startups’ competitive advantage (Resource-Based View);
adaptability and scalability capabilities (Dynamic Capabilities);
the role of networks and entrepreneurial ecosystems (Network Theory, Innovation Ecosystems);
financing of innovative ventures, including public grant funding, corporate venture capital (CVC), and venture capital (VC);
cooperation and coopetition relationships between startups and other participants in the innovation ecosystem.
Your thesis should include original research (quantitative, qualitative, or a combination of both) and analysis in the context of contemporary management theories and current business practice trends.
