General research are is digital processing of radar signals (or other signals with similar properties - echolocation, acoustic localization).
Specific areas proposed for a PhD student are:
- nonuniform sampling and incomplete data problems (including, but not limited to Compressed Sensing and its extensions)
- Track-Before-Detect methods and applications (including, among others, orbital objects detection and tracking -- SST/SSA)
- data fusion and radar resource management

The research area combines software engineering, bioinformatics, artificial intelligence and data fusion. Developing new algorithms and IT systems using advanced algorithms, e.g. ML models, that must operate efficiently and on limited resources. The proposed scope of work concerns metagenomic analysis, taxonomic classification, and design of a new system using a custom DNA sensor (solid-state, fast, with limited sensitivity) to monitor the environment and pathogens. New software containing ML models, representative searching and identification algorithms, and efficient querying of large sequencing databases. The work includes developing new high-performance methods for computing clusters, efficient implementation using current hardware, lock-free algorithms, concurrency and new data structures.
