Increasing the flexibility of the MV and LV distribution network with high saturation of distributed generation through, inter alia, use of systems and devices enabling remote reconfiguration and control of power flows. It is connected with increasing the safety and reliability of electricity supply to selected areas (reduction of SAIDI and SAIFI power indicators). As part of the work, it is planned to develop, among others:
- the concept of a solution ensuring the possibility of autonomous operation (island) of a selected part of the MV network based on local sources (including renewabe energy sources) using the available electricity storage devices,
- models of voltage level control system as well as control and optimization of reactive power flows in multi-powered MV and LV networks (Matlab / Simulink, real-time simulator - RTS).
The research works will involve the use of an RTS simulator operating in the HIL (hardware in the loop) system, allowing to check the developed control strategy with the use of real devices.

Development of methods of identifying selected types of disturbances occurring in the power grid and / or electrical machines. This research problem is related to the transients appearing in the voltage and current signals at the time of a disturbance, e.g. short circuit, mechanical damage to the machine. As part of the work, it is necessary to determine the characteristic features of signals occurring during transient states at the time of the appearance of certain types of disturbances (earth / phase-to-phase faults, overvoltages, mechanical damage, etc.), develop measurement systems enabling the acquisition of these signals, develop new methods of analyzing the data obtained in this way, allowing for the identification of selected types of disturbances. It is planned to develop new methods of analysis with the use of simulation programs and network models and to implement them on exemplary hardware platforms. For the verification of measurement methods and models, data obtained from measurement systems during tests performed in a real MV network and a real-time simulator system can be used.
