1 | The proposed research topics include: 1. interdisciplinary applications of physics in the field of complex network analysis and modeling, and 2. theoretical research in the field of physics of phase transitions. Ad. 1. Many real systems take the form of a network, that is, a system of nodes and the connections between them. Examples of network topology systems include Internet, communication, electric and social networks. Real networks exhibit a number of non-trivial features, such as the small world effect, hierarchical and community structures. The analysis and modeling of the structure and dynamics of these systems, methods of predicting their evolution and ways of controlling them constitute the core of the team's research. Ad. 2. The explanation of the causes and determination of the conditions for the occurrence of phase transitions is one of the greatest challenges in physics. This challenge remains relevant, especially in the context of recently discovered hybrid (or mixed-order) phase transitions that do not fit well with known classifications of these phenomena. The analysis of hybrid transitions with the use of mean field theory and enumerative combinatorics is one of the current research topics of the team. | Physical Science |
