I am seeking a candidate interested in pursuing a PhD in materials engineering focused on the development of advanced hybrid materials—ultrafine-grained (UFG) and nanocrystalline (NC) immiscible systems (lacking equilibrium phase solubility)—and the investigation of their mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties. The project aims to design copper-based materials reinforced with W, Nb, Cr, or Co using high-pressure torsion (HPT), a key severe plastic deformation (SPD) technique. The research will address microstructure evolution during HPT, the influence of processing parameters on material properties, thermal stability and recovery processes, and the relationship between structure and thermal/electrical conductivity. This is an experimental project employing advanced characterization methods, with potential applications in electronics, energy systems, and aerospace technologies.
