The subject of the doctoral thesis is located in the area of surface engineering of high-strength nanobainitic steels. The aim of the thesis will be to identify the possibility of controlling the structure and properties of steel in hybrid processes using high-temperature surface diffusion treatments and advanced heat treatments in order to produce a layer of hard compounds with a gradient zone in the substrate on steel with a carbide-free nanobainite structure. Diffusion treatments often result in a change in the chemical composition adjacent to the layer. This effect, as shown by our own studies, can be used to control the microstructure of subsurface zones of the substrate based on advanced heat treatment, in order to obtain a gradient change in hardness between the relatively hard layer and the nanobainitic steel core. Achieving the thesis aim will require specific competencies in the theory and practice of nanobainitization of steel and the in the basics of surface engineering
