My main research area is olfactometry (odorimetry). I deal with analysis and evaluation of causes and degree of odor impact - examination of odors and odorants, their influence on human health and well-being and odor nuisance. I study emission and imission of odorants and the range of their impact around sources of nuisance - mainly municipal facilities, such as sewage treatment plants, landfills, mechanical and biological processing plants, but also industrial facilities and others. I deal with the determination of chemical compounds in atmospheric air that cause or may cause odor nuisance (e.g. hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, mercaptans and VOCs). I am particularly interested in the use of olfactometers in (and around the area of) selected sources, but the object of my research is also the different types of sample transport bags from the above-mentioned areas and their adaptation to the specific type of nuisance source.
